"The affected area is mostly mountains and farmland. Due to its structural surface and limited farm roads; there is a limited access to the affected area," she said.

Currently, the City of Windhoek firefighting teams have been deployed on the ground and has so far received assistance from the Namibia Police, who have provided a helicopter for aerial view assessment, monitoring and directs the firefighting team on the ground to critical areas and hot spots.

"The estimated burned area in Ongos farm is 4800 hectares. We received assistance from the Brakwater community and we managed to protect Brakwater area, Daan Viljoen and Mountain lodge," she added.
