British FTSE 100 rises 0.61 pct on Wednesday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday rises by 0.61 percent, or 41.71 points, to 6,849.38 points.

Share price of Sky increased by 4.13 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Smiths Group, Rio Tinto, Dixons Carphone and Travis Perkins increased by 4.04 percent, 2.66 percent, 2.55 percent and 2.47 percent respectively.

J Sainsbury led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.91, following by Royal Mail (3.34 percent), Worldpay Group (1.42 percent), Imperial Brands (1.26 percent) and Burberry Group (1.14 percent). Endit
