The Chinese government will aid Namibia with 4,000 tons of rice to help alleviate hunger, which is staring down upon most of the country due to the persistent drought that has ravaged the country for the past three years.

Speaking at a reception at the Chinese Embassy to mark China's National Day, Charge d'Affaires Wu Wei said that China has been following the on-going drought situation in Namibia closely and feels it can help. (Namibia-China-Rice)

SACRAMENTO, United States -- California Governor Jerry Brown signed a historic bill Tuesday which would make the state curriculum include two important chapters from Chinese American history.

The AB2864 bill, introduced by California State Assembly member Ed Chau, means California has formally recognized two key chapters in the history of Chinese Americans in an academic setting -- Chinese Americans' contributions to the Transcontinental Railroad, and the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. WASHINGTON -- The United States intends to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system in South Korea "as soon as possible," a senior U.S. official said Tuesday.

"Given the accelerating pace of North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea)'s missile tests, we intend to deploy on an accelerated basis -- I would say as soon as possible," Daniel Russel, U.S. assistant secretary of state, told a hearing held by the Asia Pacific subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
