Al Ain smash El Jaish 3-1 in AFC semifinal

Xinhua, September 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Emirati giants Al Ain smashed Qatar's El Jaish 3-1 in the first leg of the semi-final on Tuesday and kept their first AFC Champions League title a possibility since 2005.

Al Ain broke the deadlock in the 16th minute as Brazilian Douglas headed home a cross from Omar Abdulrahman. Less than five minutes later, Abdulrahman doubled the lead with an excellent free kick.

El Jaish had no luck until Uzbek international Sardor Rashidov converted from the penalty spot after Isamil Ahmad was punished for his handball in the 51st minute.

In the injury time, when Adbulrahman's ball was fumbled by goalkeeper Khalifa Ababacar, Caio was in the right place to score from close range to help Al Ain seal the 3-1 win and go into the second leg on October 18 in Doha with a two-goal cushion. Endit
