Monchengladbach extend with coach Schubert

Monchengladbach have extended the expiring contract of coach Andre Schubert, the "Foals" confirmed in an official statement on Tuesday.

One day ahead of the UEFA Champions League encounter against FC Barcelona, Schubert penned a two-year contract extension and will stay at Monchengladbach's sidelined until June 2019.

"Andre is doing a great job," Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl said. "He has led the team into the Champions League. With him we reaped 65 points from 34 league games, which is an outstanding record."

The 45-year-old former Under-23 succeeded on Lucien Favre and took the helm as an interims solution in September 2015. However, after good performances Monchengladbach rewarded Schubert with a contract until June 2017. Schubert became the most prolific Monchengladbach coach in the club's history as he earned 1,91 points per game.

"We are very confident of the way we want to continue," Schubert said. "We have a common plan for the coming years."

The "Foals" sit currently on the fourth place of the Bundesliga standings. They encounter FC Barcelona at the second round of Champions League's group stage. Endit
