Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama and his French counterpart, Francois Hollande, discussed on Tuesday the security situation in West Africa, a statement from the Ghana presidency has said.

The meeting held in the Elysee Palace, Paris, also discussed trade, investment, and other issues of mutual interest to both countries.

"Relations between Ghana and France has been strengthened under President Mahama and President Hollande, with an increase in French investment in Ghana and the exchange of visits at the highest political levels," according to the statement.

President Mahama is in Paris at the invitation of UNESCO to take part in a series of activities to commemorate this year's International Day for Universal Access.

Mahama announced that Prime Minister of France Manual Valls would visit Ghana next month. Endit
