Drones used in joint Russian-Indian military drills

Xinhua, September 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian and Indian motorized units have used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during joint military drills in Russia's Far Eastern Primorsky Territory, a Russian Eastern Military District (EMD) spokesman has said.

During the drills, EMD units and Indian Armed Forces used Russian UAVs "Orlan-10" to locate illegal armed groups, said the district's spokesman Vladimir Matveyev.

Using UAVs, the two countries' forces also practiced transporting tactical groups, he said.

In total, over 500 Russian and Indian military members and 50 units of equipment are involved in the drills.

The joint military exercises will end on Oct. 2.

The two countries have been conducting anti-terror drills since 2003. Similar drills were conducted in 2013 in India. Endi
