Spain's vehicles production rises by 9.9 pct in first eight months

The number of vehicles manufactured rose by 9.9 percent in the first eight months of the year when compared with the same period of a year earlier, according to data released on Monday by the Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC).
ANFAC said a total of 1,962,669 vehicles were manufactured from January to August this year, while in August alone a total of 110,830 vehicles were produced, which meant a 75.1 percent rise when compared with the same month of a year earlier.
The sector manufactured 84,251 cars, 1,566 four-wheel vehicles and 25,013 commercial and industrial vehicles in August, while producing 1,569,673 cars, 28,802 four-wheel vehicles and 364,194 commercial and industrial vehicles in the first eight months of the year.
ANFAC also reported that a total of 1,634,868 vehicles were shipped to other countries in the first eight months of the year, which meant an 11.11 percent rise when compared with the same period of a year earlier.
Meanwhile, as for August, exports increased by 88.69 percent to 107,882 units in comparison with the same month of a year earlier. ANFAC said that taking into account the data, nine in ten vehicles manufactured in Spain were shipped to around 130 countries and regions in the eighth month of the year. Endit
