Conflicting sides in E. Ukraine accuse each of ignoring ceasefire

The conflicting parties in eastern Ukraine on Monday have accused each other of ignoring the latest truce that was established earlier this month to pave the way for separating their forces on the frontline.
The press service of the government military operation in the east said in a statement that independence-seeking insurgents had fired 14 times against Ukrainian positions in the past day, using 82-millimeter caliber and 120-millimeter caliber mortars as well as grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms. Two government servicemen were wounded in the violence.
Meanwhile, Eduard Basurin, a senior insurgent commander, said the rebel forces came under 131 attacks over the past day from tanks, mortars and grenade launchers. He gave no details on the casualties on the insurgent side.
On Sept. 15, the confronting parties in eastern Ukraine have launched a new round of ceasefire in the conflict area.
As the truce has been largely holding, on Sept. 21, the Contact Group on Ukraine crisis has agreed to start a separation of the conflicting forces on three sections of the frontline. Endit
