The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has donated 10 percent of his monthly salary to an initiative meant to empower marketeers.

The Zambian leader's monthly cut will be channeled to the Presidential Marketeers Empowerment Fund meant to empower street and market traders. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The Zambian government has instructed the country's revenue collection agency to quickly prepare a statutory instrument for the rolling out of toll fees at border posts to increase revenue collection.

Currently only one border facility, Kasumbalesa, has the facility. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia's plans to remove electricity subsidies will create the impetus needed to fast track the deployment of affordable solar energy, a business expert has said.

Victor Nyasulu, an accounting management and advisory consultant, said the move offers the country a remarkable chance to invest in affordable solar energy as well as unlock the energy sector for more private investment.
