Tokyo shares slip by break on lower oil prices, strong yen

Tokyo shares fell Monday morning on strong yen as well as weak U.S. stocks due to low oil prices before the weekend.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 141.45 points, or 0.84 percent, from Friday to 16,612.57.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 8.06 points, or 0.60 percent, to 1,341.50.

Decliners were led by mining, insurance and marine transportation issues. Endit
