Flamengo keep pressure on leaders Palmeiras

Six-time champions Flamengo scored two late goals to snatch a 2-1 victory over Cruzeiro in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.

Cruzeiro took the lead in the 74th minute through a Rafinha strike but Peru striker Paolo Guerrero equalized with a long-range effort six minutes from time.

Federico Mancuello then gave Flamengo the lead in the 89th minute to hand Flamengo their 16th win of the campaign at the Kleber Andrade stadium in Vitoria.

The Rio de Janeiro outfit are second in the standings, a point behind Palmeiras, who beat Coritiba 2-1 on Saturday.

In other matches on Sunday, Atletico Paranaense defeated Ponte Preta 3-0, Figueirense overcame Santa Cruz 3-1, Fluminense won 1-0 at Corinthians, Gremio edged out Chapecoense 1-0, Vitoria beat Sao Paulo 2-0 and Atletico Mineiro defeated Internacional 3-1. Endit
