Albania's challenge remains political extremism: parliament speaker

Albania is a model of cohabitation and religious tolerance as here Muslim and Catholics wish and celebrate each other's holidays, Albanian parliament speaker Ilir Meta said Friday.

Address a Council of Europe parliamentary assembly dedicated to dialogue and inter-faith tolerance, the speaker stressed political extremism posed real challenges to Albania, not religious radicalism.

In this regard, he said the tolerance and coexistence with others are crucial in both religious and political sphere.

Tolerance and co-habitation in a diverse environment is a challenge, extremism and radicalism of every aspect pose a serious threat, Meta said.

Meta closed his remarks saying that religious harmony is a necessary value for EU integration of all Balkan countries. Endit
