11 killed from alcohol poisoning in Ukraine

Xinhua, September 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least 11 people aged between 27 and 60 years have died in the past two days from alcohol poisoning in Ukraine's eastern Kharkov region, authorities said on Friday.

The Prosecutor's Office in Kharkov region said in a statement that four other people are battling for their lives at the hospitals after drinking low-quality liquor.

According to the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, all the victims have bought the alcohol in village grocery shops in three separate districts in Kharkov region.

The work of the shops, which sell the spurious liquor, was suspended. The authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the incident. Endit
