Xinhua, September 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian forces destroyed four militant sites and 1,800 pieces of ammunition in the North Caucasus region in a week, the National Guard (Rosgvardia) said on Tuesday.

"Combined forces with Rosgvardia units destroyed four bandit infrastructure objects, nine firearms and 1,800 ammunition in the North Caucasus region over the past week," the National Guard said in a statement.

As many as 19,000 people were detained in a series of operations since September 12, it added.

Rosgvardia was established in April in bids to curb terrorism and organized crime. It also carries out the mission of assisting the Federal Security Service in protecting the Russian border. Endi
