Border guard command of Vietnam's northern Ha Giang province and border police detachment in China's southwest Yunnan Province's Honghe on Tuesday held a joint exercise to combat cross-border terrorism.

The international joint exercise on combating terrorism 2016 with code name Song Hong 2-2016 (Red River 2-2016) was held as part of a three-level agreement on border cooperation between Vietnamese Ministry of Defense's Border Guard Command and Chinese Ministry of Public Security's Border Control, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.

During the drill, two sides have coordinated in a hypothetical situation when terrorists from a third country try to carry out illegal entry in Vietnam-China border area.

At the end of the exercise, two sides drew experience and reached consensus on collaboration in the work of anti-terrorism along the shared border in the coming time, said VNA. Endit
