Xinhua, September 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks opened mixed Tuesday as investors took a cautious stance early on ahead of potential new monetary policy from the Bank of Japan that might be announced Wednesday.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 58.89 points, or 0.36 percent, from Friday to 16,460.40.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 0.84 point, or 0.06 percent, to 1,312.34.

Notable early gainers comprised information and communication, and electric power and gas issues.

Mining, warehousing and harbor transportation service issues, however, led decliners.

Tokyo markets were closed on Monday for a national holiday. Endit
