Nigerian president lauds Paralympic team's performance in Rio

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the country's team for an outstanding performance at the Rio Paralympic Games.

Buhari, in a statement reaching Xinhua in Lagos, joined all sport-loving Nigerians in commending the athletes for doing the country proud.

The president commended the athletes for winning eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals, which made them the top-performing African team at the games.

He extolled the resilient spirit of the Nigerian Paralympic athletes, applauding the athletes for their tenacity, concentration and determination, which has brought glory to the country.

He also extended gratitude to all the officials and trainers of the athletes, who made sacrifices and persevered to fly the country's colors.

The team arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Sunday evening. Endit
