Singapore stocks close 0.87 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 24.69 points, or 0.87 percent, to close at 2,852.14.

A total of 1.48 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 748.4 million Singapore dollars (548.88 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 212 to 143, while 543 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 21.93 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 2,827.45 on Sept. 16. Endit
