Euro area job vacancy rate stable at 1.7 pct in Q2

The job vacancy rate in the euro area was 1.7 percent in the second quarter of 2016, stable compared to the previous quarter, but up from 1.5 percent in the second quarter of 2015, according to figures published Friday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU).

By contrast, the job vacancy rate in the EU area was 1.8 percent in the second quarter of 2016, stable compared with the previous quarter, but up from 1.7 percent in the second quarter of 2015.

Among the EU member states for which comparable data are available, the highest job vacancy rates in the second quarter of 2016 were recorded in the Czech Republic at 2.9 percent, then Belgium, Britain, Germany, and Sweden.

And the lowest job vacany rates observed within the EU were in Portugal, Greece, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, and Ireland. Endit
