The Syrian army started withdrawing from the strategic Castello highway in the northern province of Aleppo on Thursday, a military source told Xinhua.

KIEV -- The number of people killed in the 29-month conflict in eastern Ukraine has climbed to 9,640, the UN Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights said in a report on Thursday.
