Acting Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy on Monday met European Council President Donald Tusk in Madrid for the upcoming EU summit without the British leader.

The meeting was to prepare for the reunion of all leaders of the European Union (EU), with the exception of British Prime Minister Theresa May, in Bratislava on Friday to analyze the future of the bloc after the Brexit.

Tusk is currently making a tour of the EU to look at the challenges which have been presented to the community in the wake of British "Brexit" referendum result in June.

Acting Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo was also present at the meeting between Rajoy and Tusk.

He and Rajoy explained Spain's belief in the need for "more Europe" and for the decisions which will strengthen the unity of the remaining countries in the EU in the wake of the decision taken by British voters. Endit
