Singapore stocks close 0.1 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 2.9 points, or 0.1 percent, to close at 2,893.65.

A total of 1.28 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 947.8 million Singapore dollars (703.93 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 197 to 172, while 536 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 44.81 points, or 1.57 percent, to close at 2,896.55 on Tuesday. Enditem
