Non-communist parties urged to contribute to "new-type urbanization"

Xinhua, September 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Friday urged non-communist parties to play their part in the country's "new-type urbanization" drive.

Addressing a symposium on how to facilitate the drive, Yu, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, called on personnel of non-communist parties to provide more support to this drive through ways such as offering more suggestions and helping to resolve disputes.

In March 2014, China's State Council unveiled its New-Type Urbanization Plan for the 2014-2020 period, which urged steering urbanization onto a human-centered and environmentally friendly path.

"Human-centered urbanization is the core of the drive, and the key is to improve quality," Yu said.

Yu said the drive will pay attention to coordinated development between large, medium and small cities and towns and ensure people in urban and rural areas have equal access to public services.

Non-communist personnel attending the symposium also raised suggestions ranging from improving health care to providing better social services. Endi
