Macao's gaming industry reverses slump in August

Macao's gaming revenue registered a rise of 1.1 percent year-on-year in August, reversing the 26-month slump of the industry.

Macao's gaming sector collected about 18.8 billion patacas (about 2.4 billion U. S. dollars) in August, up 1.1 percent from the previous year, according to the data released by the special administrative region's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau on Thursday.

As the pillar industry of the region, gambling business generated 144.3 billion patacas (about 17.6 billion U.S. dollars) revenue for the past eight months, official figure showed. Endit
