MOSCOW -- Abu Muhammad al-Adnani al-Shami, a senior leader and the official spokesperson of the Islamic State (IS), was killed in a recent airstrike in Syria's Aleppo province, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

Based on multiple intelligence channels, al-Adnani was killed during an airstrike by a Russian Su-34 warplane on Tuesday, in which up to 40 terrorists were also eliminated, the ministry said in a statement. (Russia-IS)

SANAA -- Saudi-led airstrikes killed 16 civilians from three families in overnight raids against Yemen's northern rebel stronghold, Houthi-run Saba news agency reported Wednesday.

The 16, mostly women and children, were huddled in a basement in al-Sahn area when fighter jets bombed their shelter, said the report. (Yemen-Saudi-Airstrikes)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore reported the first case of pregnant woman with Zika virus infection, among 24 newly reported cases of locally transmitted Zika virus, the country's health ministry said on Wednesday.

In total, 115 cases have been reported in the country over the past few days, according to a joint briefing of the Ministry of Health and National Environment Agency. (Singapore-Zika) Endi
