Typhoon Lionrock to bring downpours to NE China
Xinhua, August 30, 2016 Adjust font size:
Torrential rain across northeast China will last until Friday as Typhoon Lionrock, the tenth of the year, is forecast to hit the region on Wednesday.
The strong typhoon, which was formed 10 days ago, is expected to make landfall in Japan on Tuesday afternoon and then head toward northeast China on Wednesday morning, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).
China's northeast, including Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, as well as Inner Mongolia, will see heavy rain, with precipitation in some parts reaching up to 200 millimeters.
The NMC warned of possible damage to the region's grain harvest and urged local authorities to take measures to protect farmland.
Lionrock has led to flight delays and cancellations in Japan on Tuesday. Endit
