Russian gov't, central bank to participate in snap military drill

Xinhua, August 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

A number of Russian government departments and the country's Central Bank will take part in the ongoing large-scale military drill involving three of the country's four military districts, the Russian Defense Ministry said Monday.

It said in a statement that the government institutions will test operations in war conditions and provide support to the organization of territorial defense.

"Financial support for troops during missions away from their permanent bases will be tested for the first time during the snap inspection by subdivisions of the Central Bank," the statement said.

The ministry also plans to check the readiness of various defense sector facilities for supplying and repairing weaponry and other equipment, it added.

The snap military drill, which is being held from Aug. 25 to Aug. 31, involves forces of the Southern, Western and Central military districts, Airborne and Airspace Forces, the Northern and Black Sea fleets, as well as the Caspian flotilla. Endi
