1st LD: Bomb explodes outside criminology institute in Brussels, no casualties reported

A bomb exploded early Monday outside the National Institute of Forensic and Criminology (NCIC) of Belgium based in Brussels, with no casualties reported.

Belgian broadcaster RTBF reported that a car smashed three fences lines to force its way into the site shortly after 02:00 a.m.(0000 GMT) early Monday "before exploding a bomb".

A fire broke out and was later put under control. There have been no casualties so far, said Pierre Meys, spokesman of the Brussels fire brigade.

The motive for the attack remains unknown. Police have sealed off the the area of the incident.

The criminology institute assists and advises the judicial authorities in their investigations. Endi
