Xinhua, August 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three Afghan civilian were killed and eight others wounded in a roadside bombing in the country's western province of Ghor on Monday, the provincial government spokesman said.

"A mini-bus touched off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along a dusty road in outskirts of provincial capital Firoz Koah in early hours of Monday, triggering an explosion. The blast caused three passengers killed and eight others aboard the vehicle sustained injuries," Abdul Hai Khatibi told Xinhua.

The injured were shifted to a hospital in the province, 360 km west of Afghan capital.

Spokesman Khatibi has blamed the Taliban militant group for planting the IED.

The Taliban militant group has been using IEDs to target security forces but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.

More than 3,540 civilians were killed and over 7,450 others injured in 2015 as the violence spreads in different places of the country, according to UN mission officials.

Out of the casualties, 713 civilians were killed and more than 1,650 injured by IED attacks last year. Enditem
