All suspects apprehended following fraud-triggered death: police

Xinhua, August 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

The last wanted suspect in connection with a telecom fraud case has surrendered himself to the police, Fujian police said on Sunday morning.

All together six were suspected of getting involved in the fraud that was believed to have led to the death of a teenager in east China's Shandong Province. The Ministry of Public Security issued a wanted circular on Friday.

The case came to public attention last week following widespread reports of the death of Xu Yuyu, an 18-year-old high school graduate in Linyi City.

Xu was reported to have lost 9,900 yuan (1,490 U.S. dollars) of her university tuition fees to telecom fraudsters and, according to reports, died of a cardiac arrest on Aug. 19.

A few miles away, would-be sophomore Song Zhenning, was also reported to have died in the same way, having lost money in another fraud case. The case was still under investigation. Endi
