Xinhua, August 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Guinea's public works ministry has asked the Parliament to ratify a loan agreement worth 41.8 million U.S. dollars, signed with the African Development Bank for funding of a road linking Guinea to Cote d'Ivoire, an official source said.

Members of parliament will examine the loan agreement in the coming days, the source said.

The 87-kilometer inter-state road will start from Beyla prefecture in Guinea to Danane locality in Cote d'Ivoire.

The ministry revealed that after examination of tender documents, a Chinese firm, Henan China, was picked to construct the road.

Authorities will launch awareness campaign targeting people living along the route to facilitate the completion of this road, which they said would promote regional integration.

The construction of the road is an initiative of Mano River Union which comprises of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Cote d'Ivoire, and it is aimed at reinforcing sub-regional integration between member states. Endit
