Schalke signs Bentaleb and Stambouli

Xinhua, August 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Schalke 04 announced the signings of Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb from Tottenham on a one-season loan and French midfielder Benjamin Stambouli from Paris Saint-Germain for a four-year contract on Thursday.

The 21-year-old Bentaleb, who is said to wear the No. 10 shirt, is reported that the club secured the option to make his move permanent for 20 million euros ($22.6 million). Bentaleb made only 11 appearances for Tottenham last season because of ankle and knee injuries.

The 26-year-old Stambouli joined for a reported eight million euros and got a four-year contract.

"Everything is settled with Tottenham. And everything is resolved with Paris," Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel said.

Bentaleb and Stambouli were just the latest signings by Schalke under new coach Markus Weinzierl. Other signings include Breel Embolo from Basel, Naldo from Wolfsburg, Coke from Sevilla and loan signing Abdul Rahman Baba from Chelsea. Endit
