Algeria's MO Bejaia secure historic spot in CAF's semi-final

Xinhua, August 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Algerian soccer club of Mouloudia of Bejaia (MOB) on Tuesday secured a spot in the semifinal of CAF Confederation Cup after beating 1-0 Medeama of Ghana in Group A.

Striker Betorangal scored the lonely precious goal in the 52nd minute to offer MOB a historic and unprecedented qualification to the semi-final for their first time participation in this African competition.

This victory was essential for the Algerians to grab this qualification as they stay equal in the second spot with Medeama, yet the 0-0 draw that they imposed on their challenger in late June seemed to be crucial for MOB.

TP Mazembe of Congo have already qualified to the semifinal as leader of Group A with 13 points, as they edged Young Africans of Tanzania 3-1 on Tuesday. Endit
