Xinhua, August 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Algerian counter-terrorism troops discovered and destroyed 18 homemade bombs during a dragging operation in the province of Constantine, 400 km east of Algiers, the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The operation was conducted Monday in the "woody area of Oued Bousfissaf in Constantine province," according to the statement.

Several terrorist bunkers have been destroyed in recent months, mostly near southern and eastern borders, in addition to some central provinces, as part of a wide scale counter-terrorism operation.

Located in a region plagued by unprecedented security and political instability, experts believe Algeria faces ongoing terrorist threats. Endit
