1st LD Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Tuesday

Chinese stocks opened lower on Tuesday, but staged a V-shaped rally during the afternoon session, supported by furniture and healthcare shares.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.16 percent to close at 3,089.71 points. The Shenzhen index closed 0.18 percent higher at 10,750.29 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was up 0.31 percent to close at 2,174.16 points.

Turnover shrank slightly to 460.1 billion yuan (about 69.08 billion U.S. dollars) from the previous trading day.

Furniture shares led the rises with their sub-index climbing 1.76 percent. Qumei Furniture Group Co. jumped 5.37 percent to close at 21.19 yuan.

Healthcare shares were also broadly higher. Joincare Pharmaceutical Industry Group Co. surged 8.99 percent to finish at 11.76 yuan. Endi
