Turkish movie wins best film at Sarajevo Film Festival

Turkish movie "Album", directed by Mehmet Can Mertoglu, on Saturday won the Heart of Sarajevo for the best film at the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF).

The SFF concluded Saturday night after announcement of awards at the closing ceremony at the National Theater.

Heart of Sarajevo for best actress went to Irena Ivanova for her role in the "Godless", a movie that also won Special Jury Prize. Heart of Sarajevo for best actor went to Gheorghe Visu for his role in "Dogs" .

Meanwhile, Heart of Sarajevo for best short film was given to "Transition", directed by Milica Tomovic from Serbia. The award for best documentary was given to "A Mere Breath ", directed by Monica Lazurean-Gorgan from Romania.

Some 220 movies from 61 countries and regions around the world were shown at the 22nd edition of SFF, which began on Aug. 12.

The Sarajevo Film Festival, launched in 1995, has become a leading cultural event in the Balkan region, attracting thousands of fans each year. Endit
