China's tradable shares up 2.57 pct in past week

The value of tradable shares on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses reached 38.5 trillion yuan (5.82 trillion U.S. dollars) at close on Friday, up 2.57 percent from a week earlier, data from the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges showed Saturday.

Total market capitalization of the two stock markets hit 49.35 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.98 percent week on week, according to the data.

The average stock price on the two markets rose 2.85 percent than a week earlier to reach 10.46 yuan.

There are 1,121 companies listed on the Shanghai exchange and 1,800 in Shenzhen, with price-earning ratios of 15.51 and 41.95, respectively.

The benchmark Shanghai composite index climbed 1.88 percent week on week to close at 3,108.1 on Friday. The Shenzhen composite index edged up 3.27 percent on a week earlier, closing at 10,872.71. Endi
