China congratulates Lungu on winning Zambian presidential election

China congratulates Edgar Lungu on winning the Zambian presidential election, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

Spokesman Lu Kang said in a press release that China congratulated Zambia on its peaceful elections and believes the Zambian government and people will make greater achievements in national construction under Lungu's leadership.

China attaches great importance to friendship with Zambia and is ready to work with the African country to lift bilateral ties to benefit the two peoples, Lu said.

Zambians voted in presidential, parliamentary and local government elections on August 11. The country's electoral body announced incumbent President Edgar Lungu as the winner of the presidential election. Endi
