Kyrgyz weightlifter fails doping test in Rio Olympics

Weightlifter Izzat Artykov of Kyrgyzstan failed a doping test and was stripped of his 69kg bronze medal at the Rio Olympic Games, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on Thursday.

Artykov tested positive with strychnine, a banned stimulant which is also a highly toxic drug often used as a pesticide.

The 22-year-old lifter has been expelled from the games. Endit
