Eurozone construction production remains stable in June: official data

Xinhua, August 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

The seasonally-adjusted production in the construction sector remained stable month on month in the 19-country eurozone, official data showed Thursday.

In the wider European Union (EU), the figure fell by 0.3 percent, said Eurostat, the bloc's statistic office, adding that in May, production in construction was stable in the single currency bloc and fell by 0.4 percent in the EU.

Compared with one year ago, production in construction grew by 0.6 percent in the eurozone and fell by 0.6 percent in the 28-country EU, the office noted.

Eurozone's stable monthly reading in June was largely due to rising civil engineering while the EU's monthly decrease was due to falling building construction, said Eurostat.

Among member states, the highest monthly increase was recorded in Hungary, with 7.6 percent, and the largest decrease in the Czech Republic, with negative 3.9 percent, Eurostat added. Endit
