The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Johannesburg and Tshwane (Pretoria) will be led by Democratic Alliance (DA) mayors after the Economic Freedom Fighters on Wednesday agreed to vote with opposition parties, including the main opposition DA in all hung councils, so as to weaken the African National Congress. (Business Day)

-- The court ruling setting aside some of the tariff increases granted to power utility Eskom this year is a big win for businesses and consumers, said the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber.

The Chamber was one of the applicants that argued in court papers that the tariff hike was unlawful. (Fin24)
