Germany's benchmark DAX index closes lower

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday went down and closed at 10,537.67 points.

Speculations on a possible rate hike of the Federal Reserve of the United States start to circulate again, weighing on the sentiment of the investors here, according to local analysts. The DAX index lost 138.98 points, or 1.3 percent.

Only two among the 30 DAX member shares rose. Deutsche Boerse and adidas went up by 0.59 percent and 0.19 percent respectively.

On the other hand, the utilities company EON fell by 3.64 percent. Deutsche Bank lost 3.04 percent. Linde, an industrial gas company, slipped by 2.94 percent. RWE dropped by 2.76 percent and Thyssenkrupp plunged by 2.6 percent.

Linde was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 258.34 million euros (290.34 million U.S. dollars) Endit
