German police found no evidence on planned attack after arresting a 27-year-old man who allegedly planned to launch a bomb attack later this month, German media reported on Wednesday.

"We have evidence that there are materials in the apartment that violate the explosives law," said a spokesman for the police department in east Germany. Police have searched the apartment of the 27-year-old with explosives dogs.

However, only two firecrackers of "non-German production" have been found, local police announced in a press release.

Meanwhile, the local authorities have given the all-clear signal.

Dietmar Woidke, official of state of Brandenburg, had confirmed to German media the arrest of a terrorist suspect in the eastern German city of Eisenhuttenstadt near the border with Poland.

The police suspected a "planned terrorist act," Woidke had been quoted as saying, adding that the detainee should be a German.

According to German media Focus Online, the attack intended to target at the city festival in Eisenhuettenstadt. The three-day festival is scheduled for Aug. 26 to 28.

Eisenhuttenstadt has about 30,000 residents. The central reception center for refugees of the federal state of Brandenburg is located there. Endit
