Belarus has new, long-range early warning radar system in service

Xinhua, August 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Belarusian military has put in service the Russian-made three-dimensional radar system for medium to high altitudes, Protivnik, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

The ministry expects the long-range early warning radar system to substantially increase the country's defense capabilities.

The mobile radar system boasts superior properties in detecting and tracking strategic and tactical aircraft and ballistic targets, and can enlarge the aerial target detection range, among others, the military said in a statement.

Belarus plans to install seven Protivnik radar systems by 2020. Endi
