The ongoing operations against Islamic State (IS) fighters in Achin district of the eastern Nangarhar province in Afghanistan have killed 32 insurgents and injured more than two dozen others over the past 24 hours, said a statement of 201 Silab Corps stationed in the eastern region on Thursday.

"Pounding IS positions from the ground and air have killed 32 rebels and injured 26 others over the past 24 hours," the statement said.

Several villages have also been liberated from IS clutch over the period, the statement asserted.

The statement, however, didn't mention the possible casualties of security forces over the period.

Militants loyal to IS who are active in parts of Nangarhar province including Achin, Kot and Chaparhar districts are yet to make comment on the report. Endit
