Albania records growing inflation in July

Xinhua, August 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

The inflation rate in Albania marked another increase in July, reaching 1.9 percent, the Institute of Statistics said in its latest report on Wednesday.

In June 2016, the inflation rate was 1.2 percent, while a year ago it stood at 1.3 percent.

The government agency said inflation went up in July mainly due to a rise in food prices, which accounted for around 85 percent of the inflation.

The latest rise in inflation comes after many months of deflation in the country.

According to the Bank of Albania, the inflation rate will reach the goal of 3 percent by 2018. Endit
