Xinhua, August 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chad's Prime Minister Albert Pahimi Padacke has been reappointed to his position, an official source said Monday evening.

A few hours after the swearing in of President Idriss Deby Itno for a new five-year term, the prime minister tendered the resignation of his government, as required by Chad's Constitution.

The president later decided to reappoint one of his key political allies who has been in the position since February 2016.

Deby Itno, 64, who has been in power for over 25 years, was sworn in on Monday for a new five-year term in the presence of 14 of his African counterparts. Endit
