Eleven people aged between 21 and 28 were detained during the MEO Sudoeste music festival in Beja, around 170 km south of Lisbon, for alleged drug trafficking, the national guard said Monday.

During the operation, 606 doses of hashish were seized, as well as 36 doses of synthetic drugs and four doses of cannabis. Police also seized four doses of cocaine, an extensible stick and 658 euros in cash.

The festival took place on Aug. 3-7 and was attended by around 200,000 people.

Despite these incidences the festival is a safe environment thanks to the organisers, the national guard said in a statement. Endit
