Xinhua, August 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chinese authorities on Sunday warned parts of southwest Yunnan Province and northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of possible mountain torrents from Sunday evening to Monday evening.

Western Yunnan and central Xinjiang are likely to experience mountain torrents due to heavy rain, according to a warning released by the Ministry of Water Resources and the National Meteorological Center.

There is a relatively high probability of mountain torrents on the northern side of the Tianshan Mountain range in Xinjiang until Monday evening, it added.

The ministry and the center called on local authorities to closely monitor changes to the weather and prepare for possible natural disasters.

In another statement, the center forecast heavy rain for parts of Hebei, Shandong, Anhui, Hubei, Jiangxi, Chongqing, Guangdong and Fujian. Endit
